Kari Gran

Project Overview
Kari Gran, an organic skincare and make-up brand, came to us with an aging Magento 1 website. When faced with upgrading to Magento 2 or moving to a new platform, they chose Shopify for its ease of use, flexibility, and better alignment with their business needs. They approached us to manage the transition, migrate content, and optimize the site for better usability and future growth.
Scope of Work
The client’s goals centered on making the site easier to edit and maintain internally, improving conversions across product pages, and stabilizing site performance during the migration.
The project included migrating approximately 35 SKUs with variants, integrating multiple purchasing options (one-time purchase, Subscribe & Save, Add to Cart), and optimizing product images for web use. They also wanted a modernized user experience across the homepage, category pages, product detail pages, and blog.
In a later phase, the scope expanded to include accessibility improvements to meet AA standards, such as keyboard-controllable menus, semantic HTML, and contrast adjustments based on an accessibility audit.
Approach
New Theory approached the project in phases to address both the immediate migration needs and long-term usability. By combining thoughtful design with careful development, we ensured that the Shopify site not only delivered a smooth transition but also empowered the client to easily manage their content and promotions moving forward.
Results
The final result was a modern, easy-to-manage Shopify site with improved usability for both the client and their customers. The client gained full control over content updates, including a pop-up modal displaying a full list of ingredients for each product. The site also features product review integration, gift wrap options, enhanced performance, and accessibility for all users.
